Hello everyone. I am currently a sophomore in college, and I plan on transferring to University next fall. I took a dual credit course through a University during my sophomore year of high school. I withdrew from this course in high school, so I do not have any earned credits at this college. I currently attend a different college, and it’s been years since this incident happened. I did not ever actually attend the dual credit university that I withdrew the course from, so am I required to list the college with the W on my transcript in my transfer applications?
I am assuming that all of this is happening in the US, correct? You were enrolled in a dual enrollment class while in high school, you withdrew from that class, and so you would have a transcript with a W from that college, for the class you took in 10th grade. But you didn’t wind up going to that dual-enrollment college, you enrolled in a different college, and now plan to transfer. No, I don’t think that you need to mention that dual-enrolled class from high school, that you withdrew from.
Would I need to send the transcript from that school?
So you took part of the course and withdrew or “did not ever actually attend…?” (Do you mean you never matriculated at the first U? Big difference.)
Have you asked the transfer advisor at your current college? Does a W even appear on your hs transcript? And is the hs transcript even required for this application to this particular four-year?
I think you’re better off asking at your current college or the target because the Common App uses the phrase “colleges attended.” If you registered, but never took the course, you did not attend. There is no transcript from that. Otoh, if you did start the class, the Common App is asking you to report that.
I never matriculated to the university that the dual credit course was from. I took the class in high school, but I didn’t complete the requirements to get the dual credit from the university. Therefore on my transcript at that university, I have a W.
You should ask the school to which you are applying, but I can’t imagine it makes any difference at all. High school grades are marginally meaningful when transferring as a college Junior, let alone a single class from 10th grade.
They will have it in their records so not reporting it will look suspicious. It shouldn’t matter though.
