Will I be rescinded from UCLA?

I applied to transfer from UCSC to UCLA as a Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Bio major for fall 2015 and I got in  unfortunately, I got a C in my 2nd ochem class and a C+ in my stats for biological sciences class last quarter. My professor for ochem was really bad; the class averaged a 25% on the midterm. This took away from me being able to put more time into stats. These are also my first C’s in my academic history and it brought my GPA from a 3.66 to a 3.46. Im still in good academic standing with ucsc though. Based on this, is there a good chance that my admissiom will be rescinded?

What does your admission contract say about grades and/ or classes?

@2016Candles To notify them if there is a drop in academic performance (i.e 2 or more C’s, any D’s or F’s) which I did. And that I must be in good academic standing at my last institution before leaving.

@2016Candles “Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance, or other changes to your class schedule”

Well anything anyone here says is going to just be conjecture. Unfortunately those Cs are in major classes, so that could hurt you, however schools are not very quick to rescind people. You’ve really done all you can do which is to let UCLA know about your grades. So unfortunately it’s just going to be a waiting game to see what they say. Good luck.

@2016Candles Thanks. It’s getting a bit frustrating since Bruin Day for transfers is in a week. It’ll be tough having to go and finding out it had been for naught if I get rescinded. But yeah, all I can do is wait.

So I went to the Bay Area Bruin Bound reception today, and during the Q&A someone asked about getting a bad grade their spring semester, and there response was to just let them know as soon as you find out and chances are high you will not be rescinded when they go through transcripts this summer. The really emphasized letting them know instead of waiting, even if it was a D or F they were suggesting that they will find a way to work with you. It was people who weren’t in contact with admissions who got rescinded. I think you will be fine.

Thx @Thiger ! that appeared to be the way things went last year with Cs, although certainly a highly impacted major may be different. Last year ppl with Cs in major classes who posted up here did not get rescinded, but again we can only say what we observed, and we are not admissions. And you appear to have two Cs, not one.
I suspect it will be OK, but who knows?

@Thiger I wanted to go to that but didn’t receive an invitation which I thought was weird since I live in the Bay Area. And yeah, I made sure to let them know  thanks.

@lindyk8 Yeah, that’s why I’m so worried. Because I have two of them AND they’re major classes

“… the changes you made do not affect the admission decision. However, we have given you a revised provision.” So that’s a yay, I think. Just gotta make sure I get a 3.2 gpa this quarter.

Yay! Congrats @JustMe95

@luckie1367 haha thanks! I’m excited and nervous at the same time. my physics class is definitely a butt kicker though.

@JustMe95 Congrats! I’m in a similar situation right now (never had C’s before, and then finished senior year with 3 C’s in total). I’m an Art major and my C’s were in AP Econ and both semesters of Pre-Calc. How long did they take to get back to you? I know it says 10-15 days, but being that transcripts are going out already, do you think there is any way their response might be expedited? Thank you for sharing your story!

Hi @Taylour, this thread is a year old. Although some of the users are still active, this subforum is for community college transfers. You can find answers from senior year situations in the HS freshman forum since AP classes as transfers only count if you decide to use them as credit at a CC.
