Okay so long story short I took AP Statistics this year, received a C my first semester and failed the second semester (ended yesterday). I am going to notify UCR on Monday, but I am scared. I have all A’s and B’s right now, another AP course that I got a B in, and I played a varsity sport this semester. I have never failed a class, but I have a 3.0 with all A’s and B’s and an F in stats. Please weigh in on what you think may happen. I should also mention my school does not have D’s and I got a 65% in the class, still an F at my school.
I’m sure you’re very anxious right now. Really, the only thing in your immediate control is to call UCR admissions (on Monday) and tell them; get on top of this proactively rather than crossing your fingers and letting the chips fall as they may. They may ask you to write an email explaining what happened; if so, make it succinct and don’t blame outside forces too much. Good luck.
Rule of thumb for the UC’s is no D’s or F’s Senior year. Do as stated above ^^^ by @JenJenJenJen and hope for the best.
I know someone in a similar situation at UCR this year regarding an AP course. They talked to UCR Admissions and were told they’d need to remediate any W/D/F grade by end of June or they’d probably be rescinded. Here is a paraphrased email they got from UCR.
We will not be able to make a final decision on your eligibility with regards to your deficient grade(s) until we have received your final high school transcript. D/F grades in A-G or excess A-G courses during senior year will result in a re-review of your eligibility and may put your admission in jeopardy. Your Provisions of Admission state, “All senior year courses must be completed with no grade lower than a C.” Please make sure to pass all of your senior year courses with grades of C or better. It may be advisable to repeat deficient grades as long as they are completed prior to your high school graduation date. Please make sure to submit your final high school transcript to the Admissions Office by July 1, 2017 and all other documents and test scores must be received by July 15, 2017. I have seen students complete course deficiencies through online self-paced programs such as APEX, Edgenuity, or BYU. Please consult with your counselor/college counselor to see if your high school offers any such programs or you can enroll independently at your own cost to complete your AP course (it must be remediated at the AP/College level).
Update to everyone: I emailed the admissions office and they informed me that since my A-G math requirement was already fulfilled, I still have over a 3.0, and it was a single semester failure, (passed first semester) my admission would “most likely” not be in jeopardy, however the final decision will be made when my final transcript is sent.

I’m literally in the same boat as you, except I got a D in ap calculus. And they told me the same thing, they didn’t mention repeating the course though. And I’m just waiting on them to review my final transcript. Hopefully we will both be okay
