Will I be rescinded?

Hi. I have two weeks left in my first semester of my senior year. I was accepted, I enrolled, I applied for housing, I've committed, etc. All of my grades are good, except for my AP Stat grade. I had a 72 the first quarter, which was okay, but somehow my grade went from a 70 to a 60 this week (I'm not sure how - but the teacher says it's right) and if I don't raise my quarter grade to a 67 or higher in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to get a D for this semester. I have A's and B's everywhere else but I'm kind of freaking out because FSU is all I want. Should I send the admissions office an email explaining it and asking? I was thinking about doing it but wondering if there was something else I could do.

There have been posts here from past years about admissions being rescinded for D’s. I would first talk to y0ur teacher BEFORE the grade p0osts about anything you can do to get the grade up. If it posts as a D, call admissions up front and discuss what needs to happen during second semester. If you attend a public HS, semester grades, not final grades, are on the transcript. Better to call than to ignore it.

I received a D in Spanish my last term, or well i was ABOUT to receive a D. So i basically sweet talked my teacher into realizing that my hopes and dreams would crash and burn if i didnt get atleast a C.

Any teacher with half an ounce of heart especially in highschool will help you out.
But a D in AP Stats… that’s pretty bad

you should be going to the stats teacher and asking for all the help you can get now…my son had a bad marking period in statistics but he put a lot of effort into it and managed to bring it up.

I agree with everyone else. Talk to your teacher before you jump the gun and email FSU. And strive to raise up your grade. Ask if there is anything you could do to raise the grade like extra credit or redue an exam. Be positive and good luck! :)

They will only look at your final grades at graduation. Try and get that up to a C and you will be fine.

Does yur school county have grade recovery. Its a way for kids to receive atleast a C in subjects where they have earned a D or lower being either for a quarter or a semester. But this would be the last resort, i definately thin you can het your grade up in the next two weeks. you just have to be fully committed and determined!

Florida Virtual? It replaces the grade

Post #6 is incorrect. They will see your 7th semester grades and final grades. In the state of Florida if you attend a public school, there is NO LONGER any such thing as a final grade. There are 2 semester grades posted for each one year subject. And all the 7th semester grades are loaded electronically to the FACTS.org state system and all state U’s have access to those grades. While your high school has to send a final transcript after graduation, the 7th and 8th semester grades will post individually. If you are on a block schedule with four blocks fall and four spring, your 9 week midterm grades will post and then your 9 week final grades will post, but the final grade is simply the second semester/term grade, not a final. If you think FSU will not know until June, you are mistaken. Be proactive, first with the teacher, then your counselor, then FSU.

And while repeating the class with FVS may replace the grade in your GPA, the original grade will still remain on your transcript. Even if your school purges it, they do not do so until after you repeat the class and get a grade, and in the meantime, that grade in on FACTS.org for all to see in the meantime.

We had this same problem last year. Went straight to the head of admissions. She said that the outgoing grades on our final transcript determined the status of the admission. However, with that being said, I agree with the proactive part. Good Luck!
