Will I be revoked?

I was accepted to Duke University under Early Decision for the class of 2015. I have good grades and test scores, but not quite good enough for Duke. However, as an athlete I was recruited and my the coach recruiting me got me in, although it was very difficult.
Anyways, I got arrested last month for possession of Xanax and marijuana. I was pulled over during schools hours (I was out of class for the day) and the drugs were found in my car. Since it was during school hours I was also suspended for five days, but was allowed to come back after three.

What are the chances that my admission will be revoked?

Unless they tell Duke, I dont think so

but in my decision agreement it says I must notify them of these things, so I am going to. Now what do you think my chances are?

Well since your recruited athletically, I think they might let it slide

I think you should tell them, as your agreement requires that you do. If they find out and you didn’t tell them, you know you will not be a Blue Devil.

Other than that, I’m not really sure. Some would say marijuana really isn’t that big of a deal, but it would definitely give them grounds to rescind your admission, . You’re at their mercy, especially considering that fact that, at your own admission, you are a borderline applicant. I would recommend that however you notify them, be extremely contrite and commit to making changes. If you are serious about attending Duke, I think this is what you need to do.

Tell them. I think it would be a HUGE mistake not to tell. Listen to NulliSecundus that was great advice.

Agree; NulliSecundus is right on the money.

If you don’t tell and Duke finds out, your acceptance will immediately be revoked–not because of your suspension but because you broke the agreement. Possible further punishment because you were suspended.

If you don’t tell and Duke doesn’t find out, you’ll be fine. Best-case scenario right here.

If you tell, depending on Duke’s policy with ED/athletic recruits, your acceptance may or may not be rescinded. But, in either case for this option, you won’t have to worry about punishments for breaking the agreement.

Your call.
