I got a letter from UM saying I had a serious decline in my final grades. During the admissions process I had all As and one C-, at the end of the year I had mostly As, a few Bs, and one D. The D was the same class as the C-, calc. I thought it was pretty bad, I honestly suck at math but I didn’t think it would hurt me this much since I’m not majoring in anything math related. Now I have to reight a letter of explaination. Is this just a process to get me to realize my mistake or do you think I might get kicked out? PLEASE respond!

I would contact your high school counselor's office right away and see what advice they have. You absolutely should take this seriously. It sounds like your letter may determine their decision. Get some guidance from someone with experience in this area. You may want to expore summer school possibilites in the math class, as a passing grade may be required -and they may not consider a D passing.

I think talking w/ your counselor is a good idea. You will need to come up w/ a good reason why your grades slipped. Were there any extenuating circumstances? You have to take this VERY seriously. My friend just had his admissions rescinded at a UC because of D's in a class. I don't believe they asked for a letter (but I may be wrong) so hopefully your admissions officers are willing to give you an extra chance if you write a letter that has a good explanation and is sincere.
