Will I do well on the ACT if I only study for the SAT? (CR and Writing)

I plan to take the ACT and SAT in September and October, with more focus on the SAT. Do you guys think studying for the Writing and CR sections of the SAT alone will be good enough for the ACT?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Well, I guess you're in the same boat as I was in. I took my SAT in April, did ok on them, but I really didn't do much extra preparation for the June ACT. However, I would definitely recommend going over grammar, and more advanced math (it goes up to pre-calculus after all). You should be fine for the reading and science sections for the ACT since you're preparing for the SAT, so no additional review is needed in these two areas. Remember, the ACT tests knowledge rather than your ability to take a test, so its a test where either you know your stuff or you don't, and theres no way to ballpark an answer.
Hope this helps.

i didn't notice much of a difference between ACT/SAT writing and english but I did score a bit higher on the SAT, just because the grading on the ACT is not as nice.

Oh yeah and another thing, should you decide not to prepare as much in terms of reviewing concepts, MAKE SURE that you take as many practice tests as possible.

Thanks for the great suggestion.

I ordered the Real ACT Prep Book. It has 3 tests. The ACT Website has 1 test. The PR book has 2 tests. So that's 6, possibly 4 if the PR tests are crap. Is there any other source of real, or close to being real, ACT tests?

If I were to recommend the Princeton Review book, Cracking the ACT, for anything, it would be for the essay. They go in depth on what makes a good essay, and provide a good example of a winning one. I followed their instructions and got an 11 without even finishing. Granted, you must be able to know the basics (e.g., grammar, sentence structure), but I believe the essay is one of the few things where studying will make or break your grade.

oh man an 11!!! omg11!fdsfa1

[sarcasm, for the impaired]

You can order two more actual tests from the ACT website for $5 each.
