I am a recruited athlete at jhu and have been told by many higher ups that I will get in. I am basically a B+ student with SATs just under 1100. I have 2 honors classes and will take some AP my senior year. I am a tri captain and gifted athlete. I work hard and know how to manage my time but can I compete with the students at jhu?

define “drown”

if they let you in you will likely be able to pass and not flunk out.

I don’t know, is one of your sports swimming? If it is, I hope you know how to swim. jkjk
Well your going to struggle and it does not look like it is going to be easy for you. You will have to manage your time properly and know that you don’t have that much time for homework/studying because of the practice schedules.
Here’s what I’ll say, look the schools that are giving you offers, see which ones you will fit in with well and be able to have a good grade in.

wait 1100 cr + m or 1100 total?

just the 2 sections

lol, not swimming. time management or working hard isnt the problem. What does it mean that the school grades on a curve to the B student? I love the school and would like to make it work.

yeah i feel your pain… i was recruited as an athlete and got in…given i had a 1390 sat and a higher gpa but i still felt like i wasnt on the same level as everyone else in my class. Basically high school doesnt matter anymore once you get to college so if you get in do your best to do better than you did in high school

thanks qb, if you have any other advice i would really appreciate it.

I think you have to really sharply question if Hopkins is the right place for you. Just because you think you can be admitted, doesn’t mean you should attend. If Hopkins is offering you experience you want - go for it!
