I know my EC's are really normal and that I need more leadership etc. but do I have a chance? What else should I do?

You need to chill out about this stuff. Seriously. If you live your life worrying about getting into harvard, then you’ll never have fun. It’s so hard to get in, and even the most qualified people get rejected. it’s no use to pin your hopes on something and spend years working towards it if it’s so unlikely for most people, and it’s just going ot make you worry about every little thing.

I have a friend that did that, and no one likes him (we’re seniors now) and he has no friends because all he does it freak out about harvard. We were friends. Then he found out that I’m applying to harvard.

If that’s the case, I have no chance of getting into Harvard. I didn’t start looking at the school until a few weeks ago. In sophomore year, all I had was a 790 in bio I did have 600 hours of community service, but that’s only on my transcript. I couldn’t find where to mention it any where else. It’s not even one of my top 7 activities anymore. :/

Grades:
You could take a few more SATs. Since you’re a sophomore, you still have a lot of time to bring your scores up to 800s. However, I think that a 780 is perfectly fine and I would not ask you to repeat your SAT IIs. The subject SAT comprises a small part of your application.

ECAs:
Depth, not breadth is always important. I only have five ECA fields: writing, community service, debate, performing arts and sport. So whatever you’re doing, stick at it and try to excel. You have around 2 years in hand, and this is a good amount of time to achieve true depth in anything.

Most importantly however, relax. You’re only a sophomore. But then again, even if you were an agitated senior, I’d tell you to do the same. You do NOT need to spend every hour studying, doing community service or participating in an EC. That will only burn you out and ruin your drive. Take a deep breath and examine yourself. What are your passions? What makes you happy? Study those subjects. Undertake those ECAs. When you follow your heart, you’ll excel and find success in ways that you couldn’t imagine had you just forced yourself to do things.

And lastly, be innovative. Reach out to people, keep a hobby and have fun. Live life! Best of luck :)
