Spring semester just started, and my roommate is thinking about moving to an open room on our floor with one of her best friends, to save her from some issues with her current roommate. (My roommate and I get along very well). I'm wondering what the chances are I'll get a new roommate? There was a girl on my floor that got a reassignment right away, but another one that had the room to herself the whole semester. If I'm not going to be with my current roommate, I'd REALLY rather just have the room to myself the rest of the semester - is this likely?

Uh, probably not. If someone needs a room and you’ve got a spot, it’s up for grabs. When I lost my roommate, I had my own room for about a month… followed by less than a day’s notice before the new one moved in.

If you’re worried about getting a stranger, maybe you can find a friend to move in with you before random reassignment.
