Will I get accepted into a UC?

I got one D the second semester of junior year in Honors Algebra 2. First semester, I
received a B. I already made up the grade by taking regular algebra 2 in summer school and got a B. I know UCs look at sophomore and junior year only, so my other grades are As and Bs. I got the D due to a family issue that I will explain in one of my PIQs. I want to know how this will affect my chances into getting into a UC. I have a good amount of extracurriculars. Has anyone got into any UC with one D? If so, which school? Any advice anyone can give me? Thank you.

What is your UC GPA? Your summer class will count towards a-g but it won’t replace the D grade in your GPA calculation. If you retook the “honors” class
semester, your new grade would count in the UC GPA calculation and the D would not be included.

As stated by @svlab112: The D received in Honors Algebra 2 will not be replaced by the non-honors summer course so both grades will be reported on your UC application along with being calculated into your UC GPA’s. You will also not get the extra Honors weighting bump for that semester of Honors Algebra 2 due to the D grade. However, by passing Algebra 2, you have now met the minimum Math requirements for the UC’s. If you will be accepted into a UC will dependent upon your UC GPA’s: Unweighted, Capped Weighted and Fully weighted, your SAT/ACT scores, SAT II Subject test scores (if applicable), HS course rigor, EC’s, essays and your intended major. See the calculator below to determine how much of an impact that D will make in your GPA.

My UC GPA is a 3.71 and this is included with the D in the honors and the B in the regular.
