Will I Get Accepted? UCF.

Hi everyone. :)

I have a 3.8 (unweighted).
A 1500 with writing for the SATs but a 1000 just reading and math. :( (Horrible I know).
I have a 24 composite for ACTs but I'm taking them again in February.
I took two AP classes and all honors/gifted.
I have almost 300 volunteer hours, member of the BETA club along with many other clubs.
I haven't even sent my application though but I know the deadline is in May, since I'm going to send it kind of late, will that lower my chances.
Could I even get in with these kind of stats?
Would recommendations, besides the counselor sheet, raise my chances?

Sorry for all these questions at once! Lol.

I think the 24 ACT will certainly help. If you had to choose between sending in the SAT or ACT, send in your ACT. I think you’re in for summer term for sure, but I’m not sure about fall term. You’ve made a smart choice by deciding to take the ACT again, but I would apply and send in everything as of right now.

I think with the high GPA and a SAT score that is right at the midrange for UCF you would be perfectly fine getting accepted for Fall also.

Hey for the ACT do colleges usually look at the subsections, or the ACT as a whole? Like since he got a 24, if he scored low in one section but his composite is still a 24 do you think it would matter? Or could one bad section hinder him? B.c that’s what’s messing me up with my SAT. Everything’s above average except my math score, but for the ACT it seems like they look more at the composite score?
(Oh and I know for FSU they have minimum sub-scores for the SAT and ACT, but UCF doesn’t seem to have that)
Oh and what were you guys’ ACT scores and what did you guys get on each subsection?

I think they look at subsections, but they don’t super score so like they only count the best score from ONE sitting.
24 ACT
27 English
23 Reading
22 Math (I got a way better score last time)
21 Science( Tip: Just look at the charts and don’t read the info also read the questions first! I got like a 30 last time!)
9 on Essay

Ohh ok. Don’t some schools super score the ACT though? And how are the composite scores calculated ? I thought you add each of the subsections and divide it by the number of subsections which in your case would be 93/4 which = 23.25 which shouldn’t round up. Does the essay score count in there somewhere?

My bad I got a 24 in reading! I got a 23 last time!! FSU and USF super score and maybe UF, but I’m not sure! IDK how they factor the essay in sorry. Is UCF your first choice?

Lol ok thanks. And yes it is !

Make sure your let them know!!

Will do. 10 char

I thought the same for the SAT and ACT but the only thing is I don’t have the money to sent an official ACT report. When I took them in October, I didn’t choose for CF to be on my list for my scores to be sent out… Is the summer term tuition more expensive?

Same tuition I believe, but housing is more expensive because you have to sign a contract for summer, fall, and spring

I also feel like I’m really late applying… Will that make a big difference?

Yes!! Many students that were busy with academics will be applying over break and into the new year, but as long as you have a pretty solid application you should get in!

I pray so!

youll get in trust me. make sure u apply early b/c they have rolling admissions

You have a great chance to get in. Make sure you complete your application asap, as it gets closer to May it will get more and more competitve. Good luck! :)

Yeaa, I already feel like I’m late but hopefully I will! Thanks guys, all I have to do is send in my transcript! :)

No problem, don’t procrastinate.

My d applied mid October and has not yet heard either. She has 520 Math and 480 reading for SAT. 24 ACT. GPA of 4.3. 4 AP classes and 150+ community service. UCF is her first choice so I hope she will be accepted!
