I applied to USF in September and have yet to hear back. They sent me a letter in January informing me they deferred my application and requested a higher test score. These are my current test scores as well as GPA and clubs. ACT:17 math,23 English,22reading (21 overall)
SAT:540 English, 420 math, 570 writing
GPA:unweighted 3.38 weighted 4.5
I'm in FFA,National Beta Club and NHS. & I included in my essay that my whole family has attended USF and I would like to carry on the legacy, do you think I will get in?

Eh, a bit on the edge there. Beta and NHS do not count for much…beta members are a dime a dozen. I didn’t even bother joining those back when I was in HS, nothing but application padders. How do you fair on the admissions matrix?

Does anyone have a clue if I would get in as a transfer?

HS Gpa 3.0
College Gpa 3.6
Out of State
Wont submit ACT if i don’t have to (21)
Did tons of clubs in HS, few in College, lots of work and volunteer hours.
Major Poly Sci, but i want to join the Broadcast News program at USF.

Thanks

I think they don’t care for your HS GPA. I’m an international student, so I don’t want to tell you anything wrong, but it seems to me that your GPA is enough to be admitted. Also you should be fine with your ECs. I don’t think you have to submit your ACT scores for being admitted as a transfer, but if I would definitely suggest it if you have good scores :).

My son would really like to attend USF. He has the GPA, the extra-curricular activities, sports, leadership, and community service. However, I am not sure how well he will do on the SAT’s and/or ACT’s. He is finishing the tenth grade and I plan to get him a tutor over the summer for the ACT. (His PSAT score was not good…I think he has a better shot with the ACT.) Can anybody give me some feedback on what they think his chances for admission might be? He does not have any AP classes either.

Maybe you should open a new thread for better replies ;).

Just did. Thanks.

Did you get accepted???
