So, here are the schools (yea, there's a lot):

Boston College
Boston University
Carleton
Carnegie Mellon
Colgate
Cornell
Emory
Johns Hopkins
NYU
Northwestern
Vassar
Wesleyan
Williams
UChicago
UMichigan

Thanks!

I’m not sure what’s “messed up about your stats.” Yes, you will get in somewhere. Even to some of the schools on your list. Your scores and your coursework are excellent.

That said, that’s quite a list – very diverse. Carleton is a small LAC in the midwest; NYU is a huge urban school in the east. UChicago is a very intellectual, quirky school; Northwestern and UMich are Big 10 football schools. Cornell is really big – about 13,000 undergrads and another 7,000 grads – while Vassar has a total of 2400 students.

What are you looking for?

I was searching for schools with strong economics programs. I decided I would be OK with any setting so I only really focused on the academic aspects.

Well, that’s a different story. Assuming that your essays and recs identify that that’s what you’re interested in, you will definitely get into some of the more selective schools. Until you said that, I had a feeling of a scattergun approach.

(I may have just made up that word; I’m not sure.)

Now I see the theme.

Holy Cross is a good school fo business and has a great alumni network. HC is similar to Colgate.

what would you say my chances are at some of the schools I listed?

Certificate of Merit in Fine Arts(from school)

^ i wouldnt put it in yur rec if i were you

you have a great chance… WHAT THE HELL do you see as a messed up stat???

Best of Luck!

wow, why is Northwestern so underrated over here. Northwestern is harder to get into than any school on that list with the possible exception of Williams and Cornell.

Northwestern SAT range for ENROLLED for class of 2011 is 1350-1520

for Cornell, it is 1290-1500
for Emory, it is 1300-1470
JHU, 1290-1390
UChicago: 1350-1510

“Possible” is a new term for me. I’ve always heard “Reach,” “Target,” or “Safety.” What is “possible”??

By “possible”, do you mean “match”? Cuz “possible” could be interpreted as a slight reach.

Out of curiosity, which NY HS do you go to?

Hi. i was wondering what you guys thought my chances were of getting into Penn. I’m an African American student that lives in West Philadelphia.
