will i get in? NU, UVA, UMich...losing hope

i only ask parents because parents are wise and all-knowing, no questions asked. well most parents, my parents seem to lack all faith in me and think i'll end up at one of my safeties. im freaking out because i know how crazy college admissions can be and I have no idea what to think. there are really only 3 schools that i am seriously interested in going to, UVA, NU, and UMich, and then i have 2 schools that i'll never get into and i don't even know why i applied htere....and then safeties that im not particularly in love with. please....Chances for UVA (applied ED, deferred), Northwestern Arts and Sciences, UMich

Swoosh,
It is out of your hands now. You truly have done all you can, and no one here can answer your question for sure, but you know that. I can't imagine you won't be a good candidate at all these schools though being out of state is a relative negative (but you know that, too).

It is time to look at your safeties and try very hard to fall in love with one of them. You really have to see yourself at one of these schools so that if you end up needing to go there, you can withstand whatever your parents are saying to you with an honest and positive feeling about your choice. Look very hard and find one or two things you like about each of them and a lot of things you like about one of them.

When/if you don't need this information, you will then have figured out what is important to you and it will make whatever choice you end up having to make that much more well informed.

Ooch..sorry to give positive reinforcement to such bad manners!! I have been out of touch for a while myself...I do feel badly for kids who perceive their parents' disappointment so strongly, though...
