im only a sophmore in high school, but my dream would be to go to penn state main.

i didnt take the SAT's yet but my GPA is roughly a 92%, around a 3.6, but i will have 100+ volunteer hours, about 50-70 leadership hours, the girl scout gold and silver award, i also will work at a camp as a counselor for 2 summers, take advanced honor classes, play softball for all 4 years of high school, have been a girl scout my whole life, possibly playing volleyball junior and sophmore year, will be and have been on student council for all 4 years, take part in all the plays, and a member of a non-smoking group... my grades arent perfect but i do a lot of after school activites. does it count for anything?
i dont want to get my hopes up if some of you think i might not get it, please let meknow your honest opinion! thanks so much!

Just make sure to keep the grades above a 3.5 and you should be fine, but of course try to get them as high as possible. GPA is 2/3 of the admission decision, while the SAT is 1/3. You may also want to look into which college within the university contains majors which might interest you, as each different college has a different degree of difficulty for admission. Best of luck.

Hey, jec7483, do you have any idea which colleges are the most difficult to get into? I’m assuming Smeal and Engineering, and of course Arts & Architecture, but I’m wondering where some of the others might fall.

I think you are correct with Smeal and Engineering being often thought of as the toughest colleges to into. I have heard the College of Information Science and Technology is getting a little tougher to get into, but it obviously varies from year to year. I think the college of liberal arts and the college of communications are thought to be a little easier to get into. The rest(education, Ag Sci, A&A, etc…) tend to fall somewhere in the middle. I know this is not the best answer, but the degree of difficulty with admission to each college changes from year to year.
