-taking pretty hard classes (all honors/AP except for math)
-will probably be editor-in-chief of the paper by the time I'm a senior
-founder and director of the French Society
-member of three other clubs
-going to end up getting a 5 on all my AP History tests, and at least a 4 on my other ones
-Ivy League legacy (my grandpa is an emeritus professor at Penn, and my dad went there. I don't think this counts hahah)
-from the Midwest, top 500 public school

...so what do you think? :) I don't really have any awards/test scores yet, seeing as I'm still a sophomore, but thanks anyways!

You’re a sophomore. Relax. Have a little fun. Don’t worry about whether you’ll get into a college just yet, since we can’t even come close to judging without test scores.

how about this - you’re too young such that there is not enough information that would lead us to believe you were a good applicant.

everything you write is - will probably, will. what if you have a ****ty day and don’t get that 5, or that 4.

if you’re asking if today you’d be admitted to columbia? no. if you do everything you’ve said here (and a lot more) you’ll be competitive, but that still isn’t a sure thing to be admitted.

Alright buddy, you’re a sophomore. You’re not the smartest person in the world, and not the most experienced either.

So when you ask for advice, don’t assume you know everything already. Yes, we know the PLAN is like the ACT, and yes, we know that as a sophomore you should be enjoying life rather than spending time on CC. No, we cannot tell you your chances to the hundredth of a percent, and no, I’m not going to give you a response other than “You’re too young to tell” because–get this–you are too young to tell.

“going to end up getting a 5 on all my AP History tests, and at least a 4 on my other ones”

This statement does not make sense. Regardless, wait until you’ve actually taken these tests because somethings are easier said than done.

Word of caution: i wouldn’t post any chance threads from now until april, when people start getting their college decisions. People on here are apprehensive, as am I, about college decisions and we find these “chance me” scenario threads really irksome during this waiting time. It as if you are deeming the hard work we put in. It’s fine to have goals and expectations, but admissions officers care about results.

Yo bro, congratzzz man, I’m shuree you’ll get into allllllll the colleges that u’ll ever applied to unlike tham rest-a us folks who don’t stand a diddly squad chance of getting into one o’ thar community culleges.

Your responses may seem a bit harsh, but no one wishes you ill will. You really are too young. Spend the next 18 months doing what is important to you, and spending time with your friends. Then come back to check out what’s going on. I would encourage you not to promulgate useless “chances” threads, but folks on this forum seem unable to do so. Really, if you spend your high school time doing what matters to you, you will end up at the right college.

pbr, that really is true. I spent hs working hard, but not too hard, trying my ass off at my sport, and having a social life. It isn’t perfect, but I got into Columbia AND have friend.
