Hi guys! I’m new here. I’m really nervous about college decisions as I went through a really hard time my freshman year at CC and my grades suffered. Was hoping somebody could give me a little insight on how I’m looking…
A few stats about me:
Dream school: UC Santa Barbara
Also applied to: UC Santa Cruz, UCSD, Humboldt, Cal State Long Beach
Major: English
Female
Middle-Eastern/White
Cumulative GPA: 2.875 (I have all A’s in my classes right now, so I’m hoping it will raise by the end of the semester to above a 3.0)
IGETC: completed
major preparatory classes: completed according to 2018 articulation agreement
almost all A’s in my major classes
3 F’s (2 of which I am next semester/already have made up)
Community college: Glendale Community (CA)
Anyways I would appreciate it if anybody decides to look this over… On paper I know I’m not the best candidate but on the website it said a min. gpa of 2.4 for in state residents so I’m hopeful. I love UCSB it’s my dream…
If you check this link, you can look up UC GPA admit ranges by major and campus. For UCSB 2018 admits (most current data), the admit range for English was 3.24-3.80. Anything below 3.0 will make it a Reach.
UCSD’s admit range was 3.44-3.87.

I think UCSC and the Cal states are better targets.
Best of luck and you never know unless you try.
