What are my chances of getting admitted as a transfer student?

AND, I will have my GE at my current school finished. I only need to take 2 more upper division courses, hopefully next spring, Calc BC, next spring as well, and CORE 100. My problem is that at my school we cannot take CORE 100 until our Junior Year. Will UCLA waive this class and see that I have completed my GE at my current school, or will I have to complete UCLA's??

AND, are there any more courses I need to complete??

THANKS!

random question, which UC are you transferring from? And why would you turn UCLA down in the first place?

If you were accepted as a freshman and do well at your current UC, transferring will not be a problem. Just be sure to explain why you didn't accept their offer or they may think that you'll just turn down another offer of admission.

haha i'm transferring from uc merced. i chose to go to that school because of it's proximity to where i live, and because of the small school atmosphere. unfortunately, i turned out to be ahead of a lot of the students, and there aren't many courses offerings there. i have been taking mostly electives. and i don't want to graduate early, so i want to transfer. ucla has a lot of interesting courses that are specific and will help me prepare for a career in law. i also like the business econ major, not the social sciences with emphasis in econ major in uc merced, because i want to tie together business and economics.

i will put that in the personal statement...

wow man, merced over ucla?

interesting...

i always get that reaction from people.

but hey, there are other valedictorian's here and even somebody with a 1600 SAT. another guy transferred from a CC, double majoring in political science and i forget what else, with a 4.0, president of the student government, whose counselors told him to go to berkeley, not merced.

don't underestimate UCM!

but i do have a reason for transferring. i'm not entirely supporting ucm, just the student body there is indeed smart and the professors are great. they should have offered more classes before they opened.

doesn't matter though, since you're dominating at merced.

gl for ucla.

You know what?
I hate ppl who make threads like this when they obviously know that they are going to be admitted. It's almost as if they are bragging.

You know what? Thread like this are NOT for the ppl who gets super high GPA and super ECs and all that.

"What are my chances of getting admitted as a transfer student?"

[/quote]

I'm SURE you already know the answer to that.

don't mind dhl3

just mad b/c he's applying to the same schools and you are a hardcore applicant...but ya there really isn't any reason for you to ask for chances. You're in at both.

oh well, i always got USC waiting for me :)

lol i'm j/k you'll probably get into UCLA anyways...I honestly dunno about UCB but think you're a good applicant. Don't worry. They're probably tired of valedictorian transfer students anyways. ;)

heh~ I honestly don't care whether i get admiited to Cal or not.
If I do get admitted, well good for me.
If not, hey still dont care.
So I dont really care about UCB threads, I'm used to seeing all those super high qualified applicants who WORRY about getting admitted when they have a 4.0 and got like 15 ECs.

But UCLA threads... especially the BizEcon major, whenever I see all those superhigh applicants, I honestly feel almost hopeless about applying to UCLA. But I always calm myself down by saying "it's ok, i always have USC".

lol I see your point.

Either way, the VAST majority of UCLA applicants do not have as good of stats as you, and I'm sure only 1% of applicants have stats like this girl.

Well, it seems as if on this forum there are SO MANY people applying for the BizEcon major who have a high preference since they are transferring from CC''s and on top of that have great stats and awesome EC's...

so it gets me doubting myself. even though i probably shouldn't.
stupid college confidential.
haha. jay kay.
and i know inter-UC transferring IS difficult.

Always keep in mind that College Confidential students are nearly always the cream of the crop. They are the ones that care enough a/b college to really put in a ton of effort. There are certainly others out there like those on CC, but there really aren't that many students that are constantly worrying a/b their chances and striving to be better. Those on CC are those students and so everyone always feels challenged to do better, which may be good or bad. Trust me, most ppl would KILL for your stats.

kill....

lol j/k

Well yeah, some of us indeed have great stats.

But never someone who was a Valedictorian with almost 4.0 GPA (well it's pretty much a 4.0) with 3 interns and two clubs founded and having 7 AP courses passed.

Starry, i beg of you and PLEASE go to Haas school of Business. You deserve it, and I'm sure you are one of the highest qualified applicant :)

i thought about applying to Haas. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to have the requirements completed by the end of the Spring...

Oh well.

I'm still trying to work out with Berkeley to accept my school's Wri 10 class to satisfy the second half of the writing requirement at Berkeley. Because we need 2 transferable writing classes, and have the writing requirement completed before applying, and my 4 only got me out of the first half the requirement. WRI 10 satisfies the second half at my school, but Berkeley said they won't accept it for some reason, even though they are both in the UC system. So I am going to petition.

Great joy.

Did your decision to attend UCM have anything to do with the knowledge that you'll get a very high buffer GPA there? If it did, then I think that was a very smart move.

starryqt22,

UCLA: match

i want to say safe match, but i dont know if that rating is possible for any inter-UC transfers. but yeah your stats/chances are great, make sure your personal statements are awesome cuz u sound like you got the stuff ucla's looking for.

it's too bad UC Merced doesnt have enough courses to keep you there though. you sound like you could be one of its pioneers and help build the college's environment and its quality up.
