will i get in with this low GPA?

since they're starting holisitc admissions they're putting less weight on GPA but will it still prevent me from getting in?

-award for getting a 4.0 wieghted GPA or above every year. (i thikn they make honors all weighted which is why its higher than my UC gpa)

-athletic scholar award

you know, i think your sat score makes up for your gpa a lot. although, your gpa isnt that low! :] also, you have good ec's. so with really good essays i do believe you have a shot.

btw i didnt know that holistic admissions put less of a weight on gpa? i mean, i know they consider more factors now but where have you heard this info about the gpa? im curious

I thought the last SAT II date that LA accepts is Dec?

And yeah, the last date that UC's accept for standardized testing is December.

im guessing you still ahve one more semester that'll go into your UC GPA. Try getting a 4.0. You have a solid SAT score and good EC's, so don't count yourself out.

ya that gpa isn't that bad.

i think i read somewhere that they are not putting as much weight on GPA because it's inflated.

and can anyone tell me if this school is a slight reach, match, etc....? Has holistic admissions made my chances better because of my ec's?

sliguy101: Match (do well on your SATIIs:))

sliguy101:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCLA: Match

if they're putting less weight on GPA, does that mean they're also putting less weight on SAT scores, or even more?

bump........

can anyone give me an idea as to what my hook would be.

Judging from your ECs, I think your various violin activities will be your hook.
