<p>Applying ID to Rice --- school of natural sciences...</p>

<p>4.0uw gpa, 4.45w gpa, 5/400 rank
13honors/ap/gt classes by graduation including calc ab,bc, chem ap, physics ap, us history ap. i am taking an online physics class at UVA this fall.</p>

<p>SAT-720m,630v = 1350
ACT-35m,29e,28r,27s = 30
SAT II's-780iic, physics/writing in december
AP tests: calc bc 4, ab 5, ushistory 3</p>

<p>E.C.'s include varsity baseball and varsity golf, TSA president, VICA, various competition awards for tsa and vica, parks and rec volunteer, national honor society, 2nd degree blackbelt in tae-kwon-do. my baseball involvement is enormous, 5-7days a week 10months of the year.</p>

<p>Have held a part time job at Design Integrated Technology for the last year, 550+ hours. i have learned tons about how a business operates</p>

<p>My regular essay is about how i have lived on a farm in a neighborhood, basically. how it has affected my upbringing, my daily choices/activities. it revolves around the construction of a neighborhood across the road, and the implecations there of.... i think its pretty unique.. dont know about good though.</p>

<p>so what are my chances? i know my sat and act are below average, but they are still in the middle 50%, do i have a shot?</p>

<p>my stats are pretty mediocre, but my high school is public, and rural, in virginia. about 1/2 of the class goes to college, and in the last 5 years only 2 people have gone to ivies/same level.. both last year. I hope my background will help me. Although this year we have about 5 people applying to top schools. they are applying to duke (me early), princeton (valedictorian early), georgetown(early), dartmouth, rice, cornell, columbia, vanderbilt, yale.... we are all very pessimistic about getting in (except the half black half native american girl w/ a 1460SAT lol)</p>

<p>Um...where you are applying, specifically, besides Duke? That would help. I'd say you're not great, but you're not an automatic reject either. I read the book that detailed how Duke does their apps (can't remember the name of it) and it scared the bejesus out of me. Good luck. :)</p>

<p>ummm duke (ED)... rice ID, virginia, vanderbilt, cornell, columbia regular, and VT as a safety for regular decision... hope that i get into 1 of my 4 reaches (duke, cornell, rice, columbia), i consider uva and vanderbilt matches</p>
