here are some basic facts! (I'm a junior in high school)

-right now I have a 3.61 uc gpa but hopefully after this semester it will be closer to a 3.65

-haven't taken the SAT yet but I got a 1900 on a diagnostic that I didn't study for and I'm currently in a prep class so I'm assuming that my score will be between 1950 and 2100

-3 (maybe 4) year varsity athlete

-4 years in school choir

-10 years in choir outside of school

-3 years choir outside of school (singing holiday gigs for money so technically a job)

My twins accepted and their respective GPA’s were 3.85 and 3.65. SAT scores were 1950 and 2050. They were accepted EA. Their good friend was accepted regular decision with a GPA of 3.4 and SAT score of 1720. . .

If you know you want to go to SCU apply EA (early action) as that will greatly increase the possibility of your acceptance.

Volunteer work is a enormous advantage as most on the lower end of the GPA spectrum around a 3.5 unweighted have enormous amounts of volunteer work. The Volunteer Work is often the deciding factor that gets them accepted. The University having a stronger emphasis on community than most Universities helps when ones academics are not quite as strong as its average student at the University.

Your athletics is also a great plus.

The Average Student at SCU comes in with a unweighted GPA of 3.6 and weighted GPA around 4.1. The range in GPA varies with some students as the University looks at Volunteer hours, Minorities, First generation Students, and disadvantaged students.

Also if you are able to get between an 1800 and 2200 on the SAT or around a 30 on the ACT this will greatly help in the admission decision as long as your GPA stays solid.
