will I get in?

Hi, I am just about to start my senior year in high school and would like to get into UCR. My GPA is a 4.0 (my school has no AP classes) and my sat is only a 1590. What are my chances?

your gpa is awesome and sat is average. you shouldn’t be worried.

Good GPA. I’m sure you can get in UCR no worries :)

Well if you have a 4.0 and you are a california resident, arent you guarantee admission to ucr for.being in the top 9% of your.school. iirc ucr is always an elc school so admission is 100%?

I see, thanks for the responses! Also do you think i should retake the sat? because I first took it in my sophomore year with no study, so I can probably score higher now. Also, I only plan on applying to ucr, no other schools matter even if I get in elsewhere.

If time and school pressure isn’t an issue, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to raise your SAT score, but like others have said, your GPA is already stellar.

I want to say UCR is a guaranteed admission, which has been pretty true the past years, but to be absolutely safe, have SOME sort of backup. I actually know people who didn’t make UCR but made higher UC’s such as UCSD or UCLA, so it’s something where you never know.

YOu have nothing to lose by retaking the SAT. I would also apply to a backup. I believe that if you are in the top 9% of our class, you are guaranteed admission to a UC, but if by some remote chance you were denied admission to UCR, then you would be at the mercy of admissions as to where they would re-direct your application.

You don’t need to apply to any other UCs if UCR is your top choice. If you get turned down by Riverside, Merced must offer you acceptance.

honestly your stats look solid, are you involved in any extra curricular activities?
