<p>@Fergus3: Can you and your family afford the $55K/year price tag for the UC’s??? You will get little to no financial aid from the UC’s by being OOS.
Your UC GPA is on the low side but your test scores are very good. UCSB likes higher test scores and tends to be more holistic in regards to your essays. UCSB is probably a high match but if you are full pay and you write stellar essays, I would say it is a Match. Good Luck. </p>
<p>UCSB likes higher test scores…but scatterplots suggest that it only consider 2200+ SAT scores to be high enough to make up for a low GPA. Therefore, UCSB is a reach. Also, a 3.63 capped UC GPA is indeed awful.</p>
<p>I know an AIME qualifier with a 2170 SAT score and a capped UC GPA about 3.8. He was rejected by UCSB.</p>
