Currently a junior at a very small school in the depths of Alabama. The school is 7-12 and around 500 and isn’t a private or prep school. I have a 4.13 weighted and a 4.00 unweighted. My school doesn’t offer any AP’s but i have taken 4 honors classes and 3 dual enrollment classes. My act score was a 28 but i’m shooting for a 31 at my next one. I have pretty good extracurricular like sports and music, but the clubs at my school don’t interest me.
I’m asking for those out there if i can get into this list of colleges:
University of Alabama
Auburn University
University of Georgia
University of Florida
Boston University
Thanks!
As long as your school doesn’t offer AP’s (which is understandable for a very small school) then colleges will understand that, and overlook your lack of rigor. If you get a 31 ACT you should probably get into all of those schools with the exception of Boston U which is definitely a reach. Also, do you have the opportunity to take an AP test? Possibly self studying for one and taking it at another testing location would show colleges your determination and initiative to study and succeed, despite being in a rural school with little resources. Although, it might be too late for that…
If you can get into the 30’s for your ACT, you should be pretty confident in your chances in getting into all those schools except for BU. That is not to say that you’re unqualified for BU, but their average freshman has a 32. Again, you should like your chances for all the schools in the South that you listed.
