So I recently just visited Temple and I fell in love with the campus. However, I’m extremely worried about being admitted. I currently go to a private school where the grading scale is a 7 point scale instead of a public school’s 10 point scale, an A starts at a 93. I want to be a nursing major but I currently only have a 3.43 GPA and my SAT score was a 590 in reading and a 540 in math, needless to say not great. That being said, my sophomore year is why my gpa is so low (chemistry is a killer.) My freshman year was good, mostly As, and my junior year I added honors classes to my college prep classes and my senior year (current year) I added more honors, AP classes (history and science classes) and even two college psychology classes. First quarter was straight As. I’m hoping that my progression through high school can help the admissions team see past my lower scores. In addition to these things, I’m in many clubs and participate in a sport. Please let me know if I should get my hopes up or not.
If it was any other major I’d say you’d definitely get in, but nursing majors average a 4.0 GPA. The spots for Nursing Majors are very limited so it’ll be a lot more difficult to get into that major.
For nursing, your SAT should probably be MUCH higher. Good luck to you but definitely have some safeties…
Thee Temple nursing program was a reach school for me as I have a 3.5 GPA and an ACT 28. But I have a lot of community service and social activism initiatives under my belt, some of which I received local and national recognition for. I’m convinced the extra curricular activities made a diffeeence in my acceptance.
