Will I get in?

Chance me please
GPA: 3.4 unweighted (I don’t really know how to do the weighted thing, my school doesn’t do that) Took 2 APs and 2 honors junior year. Taking 3 APs and 2 honors next year.
I have an upward slope in my GPA. I went from an 86% to an 87% to a 93-94% last year. I’ve taken accelerated classes all through highschool. Will BU see that?

SAT: 2100 (610 Math, 700 Reading, 790 writing)

AP Exam Scores: 5 on Eng, 4 on APUSH

I am taking the ACT in September, aiming for a 29-32. I am also taking the SAT II for Math (600 range, probably) and APUSH/Lit (700 range, crossing my fingers)

I have a ton of EC’s that I’m too lazy to list right now, but I am in the top half of my class. I go to an extremely competitive public school in CT.

THANK YOU! :)

most probably not

bmedude is probably playing with you… somewhat. Your SAT is strong however your GPA ideally should be a tenth or two higher. I still think your chances are okay, but not a slam-dunk. Don’t apply ED and show a strong fall GPA when applying RD. I don’t think your chances improve by applying ED versus RD at BU anyway.

I am extremely confused. I have an 88.3% unweighted average right now.
What would my 88.3% be on the 4.0 scale? Is a 3.4 the correct number?

Don’t worry about converting your gpa to the 4.0 scale. Colleges will normally ask for your gpa and the scale used at your high school. Just try to raise your GPA a bit.

The average admitted GPA is an A-, but I believe that’s all of the schools averaged together. If you raise your GPA to a 90% or above I think you have a pretty good chance, especially since your SAT is slightly above the average. Of course it’s impossible to say you will definitely get in, but I would say it’s a pretty good match for you. Of course a lot of it depends on which school you are applying to within BU.

I am applying to CAS.
I don’t know if it’s possible to raise my GPA to a 90, seeing as my 93-94 GPA last year raised my cumulative (which was an 87) only 1 point something percent.
I don’t know whether to apply ED or RD. BU is my first choice. I want them to know that, which is why I want to apply ED.

But at the same time, I want them to see my senior grades and I want those grades to be incorporated into my GPA in order to raise it a bit. I also am applying for need-based FA. (etc)

So ED or RD? Bah

By the way, thank you for all the help everyone.

these people are ****ing with u, ur stats are fine. as long as your EC’s are actually good you should be set, its BU not Duke
besides, if you don’t get in then i could be in trouble, my gpa and sats are identical to yours (diff breakdown on sats though) and BU is in my top 3

Habitat for Humanity (Building Projects) , Mentoring (3 separate programs, all 4 years of highschool), Hospital Volunteering (40 hours), Full time job (20-40 hours/week all summer), Spanish Club, History Club, School Newspaper (This year I’m copy editor), Swimming (2 years JV), Rowing (2 years JV/V)

those are my ECs.
