I believe you are slightly below the VT (I’m assuming virginia tech?) average for both SAT and GPA. Do you have any ECs that you are immensely interested in? Write a strong essay about that and you will be a much stronger applicant.

Overall, I would say a slight reach/high match.
Best of luck!

I’m pretty sure VA tech looks at weighted GPA, as the mid 50% ends at a 4.17, which is obviously impossible on a regular 4.0 scale. My weighted GPA is 4.04 so I should be good. I know my SAT scores are not great, but do you think they will look more at my higher ACT score?

@RichmondSenior: Oh, yes you are correct! Are you only sending your ACT score or both your ACT and SAT? If you send both, they will inevitably look at both – but they will consider your ACT score more. However, they will probably not overlook your SAT score.

Your ACT is still slightly lower than the Virginia Tech average, but definitely in the ball park. I would suggest you only send in your ACT score if that is allowed. Once again, if you emphasize your ECs and have good essays, you should be good to go : )

Usually, your GPA should be at or above the 50th percentile. Those who are accepted with lower GPA’s are usually athletes or have extremely high test scores.
