Okay, so… It’s been (almost) 2 years since I graduated high school and during that time, I haven’t gone to community college or anything – now, before you say how stupid I am of not going to community college and how I could’ve transferred, I already know how stupid I am for not doing that, okay? so let’s just skip that and go straight to my question (sorry, I don’t mean to sound sassy).
In high school, I didn’t really do so well. I took some APs but overall, my GPA was about a 2.0 (unweighted) and not to mention, my SAT score sucked too. I got 1000 on my SAT in total and i never took my ACTs so I basically never even bothered applying to any Unis/Colleges – which I totally regret doing. After 2 years of just working and finally realizing that I want to go to an actual college or uni, I FINALLY decided to apply to some schools such as: WVU, ASU, UTennessee-Knoxville, Coastal Carolina, and Kansas State. I would really happy if I got into ANY ONE of these because… I just want to go to a really college (well, you know what I mean…) and maybe just end up transferring from there or maybe even graduating from there, instead of going to CC for 2 years. Because, if I do that, by the time all of my friends are finishing up their senior year, I would be going in as a freshman which I DO NOT want to do. Anyways, sorry for making this so long but my question is, do any of you guys think I would be able to get accepted into any of the schools that I applied to? I really want to go to ASU or Tennessee but honestly, I’m not really in a situation where I can be all picky… so… I guess I’ll be lucky if I get into ANY school at this point. Oh and if any of you guys have suggestions to where else I should apply to, feel free to just tell me! Thanks so much and I’m so sorry for making this so long!
move to chance page.
and if you attend a CC for two years you should enter a four year college as a junior.
Are your parents willing to pay the out of state fees for college? With 2.0/1000 stats I really think a CC is the best option.
You are not stupid for not going right to college. Why in the world would anyone think that? I think too many students go right to college when they are not ready to made full use of college.
It’s hard to know whether you’ll be admitted to those uni’s or not, so wait and see the replies. If you don’t get in to a college you want to attend now, your best bet is to go to CC for 1-2 years and then transfer - if you get good grades in CC it will increase your chances of getting into a university (compared to your HS grades), so focus on that. Don’t give up!
Yeah, money isn’t an issue. I just really want to know if I have a chance of getting in?
Also, aw thanks guys for being so nice about this. I was actually expecting a lot of douchie comments telling me how dumb I am but its actually the total opposite, so thanks!
but yeah, I really do hope I get into at least one school. That’d be like amazing! I guess only time will tell…
It is not dumb to go to college when you are ready. We have seen many stories where students went to college and failed out because they didn’t want to be there.
You seem to be a perfect candidate for goign the CC to four year college route. Right now, your scores/GPA says one thing about your abilities/work ethic. You may feel that reflects what you are capable of or it doesn’t. By going to CC for two years, it gives you the opportunity to “reset” that GPA…if you do well for two years it shows the 4 year schools what you are really capable of. If you do well, you will have more choices in a 4 year college. I would think that your state schools would be the best value for you and easiest to transfer all your CC credits to.
If you insist on trying a 4 year school, use the super match tool http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/ and put in your info to see what colleges you would match to. But I woudl go the CC route.
Do you think the 1000 reflects your best effort on SATs? WOuld it be worth studying and taking it again?
Don’t worry about what your friends are doing…this isn’t grade school…you weren’t held back. You have chosen to work or figure out want do or have realized that college will maximize your chances for a career (although there are many other options like plumbing/electrician/etc)
Try to hope but still think realistically that CC or some other small schools will accept you. Scores are just too low. Still those schools you to go to are still in play. You can prove yourself at CC and transfer after 2 years.
