Hey Everyone,
Im an economics major at Cal Poly Pomona right now, and I am looking to switch majors to Mechanical Engineering, but Cal Poly is making it very hard for me to do so. I just started school (freshman), and have no College grades whatsoever, but am still considered a transfer student. Since that was the case with Cal Poly, I began looking at other options for schools, and ASU came up, and I hear they have a killer engineering program. So im planning to transfer there in January. I don’t want to waste my time here for very long.
These are the transfer reqs for the Ira A. Fulton SoE at ASU:
–Minimum transfer GPA of 3.00 for less than 24 transfer hours, and
–No high school math or science competency deficiencies, and
–Minimum 1140 SAT combined math and verbal or minimum 24 ACT combined score, or 3.00 minimum ABOR GPA, or class ranking in top 25 percent of high school class.
I have failed 3 semesters of math, 2 semesters of WHAP, and a semester of Spanish in HS. Out of those classes I retook all 3 semesters of math, and a semester of WHAP at a CC and received A’s in all those courses. And ASU said that they would honor these courses, but I still have D’s in a semester of WHAP and Spanish 2. Since I dont have a college transcript just yet, my admission will be based off of my HS grades. Considering all that, I have a 2.84 GPA when I calculated it the way ASU calculates GPA. Would that be sufficient to get into the engineering school? I also have a SAT score of 1220 which is above the minimum SAT score. Can you guys please tell me what you think? Sorry about the really long message.
Thanks Everyone!
