Hey all. My name’s Jake. I have a 3.58 unweighted GPA with 5 AP courses. I got a composite 29 on my ACT. I wrote my essay on being gay in the Midwest. Do you think I could get into Boston University? I know I haven’t provided much information… if more is needed please let me know. I applied Early Decision and I’m already super anxious.
This is a rough assessment based on published info and what I know about BU. It’s worth the money you paid for it …
Your grades might be a tad on the low side, your ACT score is roughly in the middle of the admitted pool. I think admission success will depend primarily on things like your strength of your schedule, class ranking, AP scores, and your essay(s). Secondary factors like extra-curriculars might matter if you’re on the margin.
Hope this helps, good luck.
Hey exstudent,
My GPA is unweighted, weighted I’m not sure what my GPA would be.
Thank you so much for your reply.

Hi
We sat through the 2-hour session info session when BU came to our local region. They really try to emphasize that it is more than GPA. This means looking at strength of schedule, etc. which yours looks good with 5 ap classes. They also look at whether you dipped or slumped in your last year.
From what I saw in the 3 examples they gave in the session, your ACT looks good for them. The GPA is a bit low as they were looking at the high 3’s, but like the other person said I don’t see your weighted amount listed.
Good luck. My daughter has also applied there last month!
I say you are a good applicant. Being from the Midwest is actually a good hook as many kids come from the Northeast, NY, and CA. Good luck!
Your stats seems to fit BU. You will probably get in.
I think you have a good chance
