Will I get into Clemson?

GPA (weighted):3.1
ACT: 30
I attended the top ranked public high school in the state of South Carolina.
Im in lots of clubs and president of two of them, and have ran track, I also have had 50+ community service hours at the local hospital, im very involved in school and the community. I also have a part time job
Next year of high school(senior year) I have four AP classes and im determined to bring my gpa up to at 3.5, how are my chances???

Do you go to Academic Magnet? 3.1 weighted is pretty rough no matter what school you go to. You’re going to need at least a 3.1 unweighted to even think about Clemson.

Unfortunately extracurriculars don’t count as much in Clemson’s admissions process.

I have a rising sophomore at Academic. What weighted GPA should she be shooting for (the conversion totally confuses me since an A is a 93+ in SC)? Freshman year was quite a shock for her. A’s came very easily to her until Magnet and now she has to work her behind off to get B’s.

@charlestonmom no average GPA was reported by Clemson last year but 82% of students had a GPA over 3.75 (I assume this is on the SC scale since 2/3rd of the students are from SC though the out of state students may screw that number up with the “regular” GPA scale). In the past I’ve seen the average GPA reported as 4.1-4.2.

Just try to get your gpa up. Your act is spot on though. You sure you didn’t mean 3.1 unweighted?
