I am a senior ranked number 2 in my class with 4.0/4.0 GPA.
I got 34 on my ACT with a 36 on the math section and 35 on science.
I am the co-captain of my dance team, NHS president, and Student Council treasurer.
In addition I have taken engineering classes at my school, got a 5 on my calc ab exam, and am involved in other organizations at school like DECA and Mu Alpha Theta. I also volunteer at a camp for disabled children every summer.
I really want to get into engineering honors but I don’t know if I am good enough. I have heard the decision is based purely on numbers and I don’t know if my numbers are competitive.
Everything I do, I do because I enjoy it and I have done nothing specifically to appeal to UT or anything. I know some students intern with professors to put on their resume but I have not done any of that.
Do y’all know if I have a chance?
If everything is based on numbers (and I don’t think honors is), yours are pretty darn good.
I think they look at the whole picture though. Your ECs and leadership are strong, too.
I think you have a good chance. Not sure it is all the numbers, though. My experience with UT Honors has been that the essays matter.
