Will i get into Exeter?

I’m currently an eight grader and I want to now my chances of getting into Exeter/Andover. I currently taking two high school courses geometry(tenth grade level)and Spanish. I’ve won The North south foundation state level math and science tournament and have qualified for national. I’ve done an array of math competitions such as math kangaroo,Amc 8, and math counts all of which i have ranked highly in. I play MTG(magic the Gathering)competitively. My biggest achievement in that field is winning a mana crypt a card valued at 100$,I have been playing for nearly three years.I am a second degree black belt in Taekwondoe, something which i have been doing for nearly 7 years. In sixth grade i won a speech and debate competition where i gave a speech which called attention to global warming. My grades are mostly A’s and A minuses with one B+.I play tournament level chess at my local club and my rating has peaked at 712.I’m currently I’m in Two clubs at my school the Chess club And D.O.R.K(designers of rare knowledge),a club which i created run by the art teacher where we design and build things.i am also part of the Gifted and talented program at our school. I am also part of my local boy scout troop where i have achieved the rank of second class and have many community service hours from that.I have not took the SSAT yet but i took a practice on last year and got 91 i have definitely improved since then. Thanks for your time and please let me know your thoughts

I dont have legacy forgot to add that

My thoughts:
First geometry isn’t high school level, I would consider it to be one year advanced. Many kids are one year advanced, in fact I’d guess that close to half of the kids applying to Andover/Exeter are one year ahead in math.

North South Foundation: sorry man this doesn’t mean much (I participated in it when I was in middle school). It’s super easy to make national finals and its not a very well known competition. Try to do things like Science Olympiad and MathCounts, those are the two biggest competitions in middle school for STEM.

Math Competitions: Ah, I see you’ve done MathCounts, great! Have you made nationals or states? What awards did you win? For this to be considered an incredible achievement in the eyes of prep school AOs (admission officers), try to make nationals or place top ten individually in your state. Regional awards and regional/state team awards will complement this, but they won’t stand out much.

Taekwondo: I actually wrote a few of my essays about taekwondo, and after getting my acceptance letter and talking to my interviewer, I can assure you that AOs don’t think much of it. I too had 7 years of experience and was a 2nd Dan in 8th grade. The issue is there’s varying levels of seriousness across taekwondo centers, and some people can just buy their belts without actually performing well. I will say that you might be able to write a good essay about a belt testing to show that you worked hard and persevered.

Idk much about chess

Clubs and G/T: Great that you created your own club, make sure to emphasize that because it shows leadership and initiative. G/T is commonplace.

Boy Scouts: Another activity that I do as well! It’s great that you have community service hours, this will complement your application.

Advice: I see a lot of activities that you’re doing well in, and you’re definitely a well rounded person. This is great, because private schools really like well rounded people (colleges really prefer spikes) However, there’s no achievement that I see that I say “wow” too. I would try to focus on MathCounts and get to the state and national level with awards. This will help your chances a lot. PM me if you want to see my stats in 8th grade.

actually rereading my thing i accidently said im a 8th grader im really a seventh

for mathcounts i qualified for states

Hone your writing skills.

Yes, that is the only advice I have.

@stalecookies Agreed. My advice was going to be to focus on proof reading

In general your resume is interesting. I agree with @stalecookies that your writing, even on a message board, needs to be more professional. In general keep up on SSAT prep and practice for your interviews with an adult. Google general interview questions and rehearse getting out your resume and ideas vocally. It can be super awkward at first but that is a good thing. The interviews are more of a friendly conversation but I have helped many quality students prep and some of the best and brightest freeze when it comes time to talk with an adult about themselves. Good luck.
