I got a 38. 31 is barely enough for Arizona State.
@fsa99 The highest on an ACT in the U.S. is a 36. Look it up. A 38 is impossible.
Thanks! @IN4655
Thanks! @yalehopeful017
Thanks! I can afford them! @mohammadmohd18
@fsa99, kindly don’t mislead people on this site. A 31 on the ACT is far above average for ASU, and, as the OP pointed out, a 38 isn’t even on the scale. Trolls aren’t appreciated.
Edit: For some reason, “t.r.o.l.l.s” is starred out.
Having no SAT IIs is going to hurt you unless you tell them and have some sort of proof that you couldn’t afford them or had no where to take them. If Georgetown sees that they were administering the test in the next town over and you had the money Georgetown is just gonna assume you didn’t wanna take them or didn’t do your research properly.
Your focus should be on WHY GT? WHY not some other schools. Scores by themselves tell me nothing rather than you are able to cross the minimum threshold to handle the classes at GT. 31 ACT is not that bad to rule you out FOR SURE. What is your passion? Did you chged your community in anyway shape or form? What area you want to study, and how did the activities in the past line up with that goal? You mention about your lab work at ORNL, what are they, what did you do there… a researcher vs a dishwasher, anybody there can do letter of recommendation for you? Ultimately, I’d bet you the admission odds all comes down to 1) considering the environment you are in, did you do the best? 2) Why GT, be very specific and personal, not some other kids from your county can describe and 3) How you describe your passion, and things that you have done and how they are related to the rest of the application package. @a20171 I’m going to apply early action next year, so I’ll take them somewhere! Thanks
@BigflowerSusie I’ll make sure to explain everything to them! Thanks! I’m guessing you don’t want me to tell you here, as it would be super long!
@HopefulHoya1103 I wouldn’t stress too much about the ACT. Definitely try to raise it, but don’t kill yourself over it. Georgetown has got some of the most holistic admissions imo. I got into McDonough early with a 32 and pretty bad SAT II scores (770 Math II, 620 U.S. History, 590 Bio). Just make sure you kill your essays and make it clear that you have a hook. But honestly Georgetown admissions has got to have one of the most “big picture” admissions focus than any other school out there.
