So, I really want to go to Massart [Massachusetts College of Art and Design] it's in my favorite city, plus it is affordable for my family. I heard Massart is very competitive, but the acceptance rate is at 63% which seems normal to me [compared to risd's 34% acceptance rate] My portfolio is very strong, I have taken several honors classes, I am going to take an ap class my senior year, retake my sats this October [my sat composite is currently 1630], and I have numerous extracurricular activities. [i.e. cartoonist on the school newspaper, treasurer of the National Art Honor Society, costume makeup artist in drama club, was a modelling student at a local modelling school, participated in the afterschool art studio workshop frequently etc.] + I call massart frequently and have gone on a campus tour.
However, my only concern is my gpa.
for freshman, sophomore, and junior year, my gpa is a 2.87/2.9 unweighted.
No, I am not lazy, I am just not a good testtaker and I'm not the best in Chemistry!
I know Massart accepts people with gpas below 3.0 if their sat scores are high enough, but do I have a chance at all of getting in? What if my gpa for my senior year became a 3.5 and it averaged out to 3.0?
