no, you have to be the least qualified candidate in the entire country, i award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul. maybe, MAYBE, community college, if your lucky

yep, you'll get into MSU.

hahaha..i hope u were joking. u couldnt have possibly been concerned about getting into MSU with those grades. lol. ur smart! i would die for that avg. lol. good luck

yep, I had a 3.2/1800 and got in. You'll have no problem.

You live in state so what's the worry?

You have a shot at UofM. It's a reach, but I've seen kids get in with a lower GPA/high test scores. If you raise your ACT this fall to a 27+ then you have a shot.

You'll be fine at State. Is it your first choice? If so you should start looking at dorms, hehe.

I dont want to go to Michigan. For one it would really be a reach. I have also lived 10 minutes from MSU's campus for most my life I am very familiar with the area. I am a major State fan. Especially their hockey team.

Basically MSU fits perfectly for my grades and personal preference.

I agree, I think the UM environment is too competitive for many, and if you don't like their sports teams, by all means go to MSU! There are tons of kids who wouldn't go to UM because they are die-hard MSU fans, and vise-versa.

MSU had too much of a dudebro feel for me.

God big ten country has always really frustrated me and I see similar problems in the south. I think it is asinine to pick a college over another just because you prefer their sports team. Who really gives? In the long run you will be kicking yourself for not going to the school which gives you the better opportunity. Ive seen so many kids pick a college based on athletics(in which they dont participate in) that it makes me sick.

Your stats are about the range for MSU so good luck!

Your stats look good for Michigan State. I don't know much about their hockey team, though.

Does it really matter that much where I get my education? Isnt a degree from MSU worth as much as the same degree from UofM?

I am also not trying to make their hockey team. Hockey is different from other college sports. College teams dont recruit just regular players that played highschool or some club team. They recruit players her a extremely good and play juniors. These kids have moved away from home to go play hockey during the season then they return home during off-season.

Puppetzz, there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to State. You will land a good job and the State degree is very valuable, especially in certain departments. Undergraduate is more about going to the school were you want to be and putting yourself in a good atmosphere where you will succeed rather than going to the most prestigious school.

ryan, athletics are a HUGE part of campus life. Duke students camp out before games, having a great athletic department gives you an option for fun that's not going out and getting drunk. It's always a plus to have good athletics, it gives you things to do, things to talk about. I eliminated my college search to schools that had a Division 1 Football and Basketball team because I couldn't see myself at an artsy school.

^yup Division 1 sports plays a big role in my college search.

MSU has it all. Hockey, football, and basketball.

I thought I would update my stats. My GPA is actually a 3.56 right now, by the end of my senior year it will probably be a 3.63. Im applying earlier so MSU will only see my 3.56 GPA. Also I might not get a 25 ACT. Too be safe, lets just say I got a 24. So updated stats are

3.56 GPA
24ACT
In-state
top 20%
Played Ice hockey for 14 years, had a part-time job.

If I can get in with those stats I would feel alot better.

In with those stats.

Bumppppppp

There is absolutely no need to bump. You're in. I know kids with sub 3.0's and sub 20's who got in at MSU. They have an open admissions policy in which they basically accept any applicant. And you are above average for the school. Don't worry about it, start having fun. Apply early, you'll receive your acceptance 3 weeks after you apply in the mail.
