Okay, so my dream school is NYU. I want to major in political science there. Are my grades good enough to get me into NYU? I haven’t taken the SAT yet. I am really worried about the C in the second semester for AP World History. Please let me know! Thanks so much.

It’s too early to determine if you’ll get in, especially without test scores. However your grades are perfectly fine for NYU. That C isn’t going to hold you back.
I can afford NYU. I’m just wondering if the C in the second semester of AP World History is going to hold me back significantly.
NYU CAS is not as selective as Stern, Poly, or some other undergraduate divisions, but it is impossible to assess your chances without junior grades or test scores. I recommend trying both the ACT and SAT, and taking any SAT II or AP tests you can, because NYU is “test-flexible”: they require some standardized test results, but you may pick and choose which one(s) to send.
It’s still really early to tell, and as someone stated above, it’s even more difficult to say without test scores or GPA. But, you do have a pretty solid shot! I met a girl who got into NYU who wasn’t even in the top quarter of her class (but she still had a 4.0, so that probably looked really good). Her advice to me was to do as many volunteer hours as you can over the summer and to write the BEST essay you know how to.
Other than keeping up your grades, the advice I’ve been getting from everyone as an incoming Junior is to focus on your tests. Study for the SAT and ACT, take both. (: Hope you’ll get in and good luck!
You will get into NYU but if you have great stats and need financial aid, look at Columbia or Barnard. NYU offered me financial aid, but it included at $27K parental PLUS loan and maxed me out on Federal student loans… Columbia and Barnard offered me financial aid packages that were all grants. New York City is great but think very carefully before accepting a ton of loans.
