will i get into NYU?

Your grades are mostly B’s. But your SAT is good. Are you trying for Stern School of Business?

i wanted to do engineering, but would it help if someone in my immidiate family went to stern?

Get your SAT score up. If you’re trying to get in with a 3.5ish (like me), you’ll need an amazing SAT score to make up for it. Like I have a 2400 right now but even that won’t completely make up for the GPA. That’s if you want CAS or Stern.

If you’re looking into Gallatin, Steinhardt, or NYU Poly, the requirements are lower.

If you apply CAS, you will probably get placed into LSP. You need to raise that SAT and SAT II’s to accommodate for your GPA.

Your unweighted junior GPA is a 2.6 or so. That’s an entire 1 point behind the CAS average. You’ll need to bring your SAT score up quite a bit to get into CAS. T

Assuming all your classes are weighted equally, your GPA is somewhere around ~2.92. The average NYU CAS student has GPA of ~3.6+. Even with a 2010 SAT, I would say admission to CAS, or NYU for that matter is well… Impossible. Only 1% of admits have a 2.9 GPA or lower.

Get your GPA and SAT scores up. But don’t assume that schools like Gallatin will be a shoe-in…the acceptance rates this year (in lowest to highest) were Tisch, Stern, Gallatin, CAS (others weren’t released at my orientation).

And fyi, I’m more proud to say I go to Gallatin than NYU.
