Will I get into Rice?

I attend a public school in GA. Not very competitive. Hardly anyone goes to the Ivys or other top 20 schools

SAT MA-650, CR-620, WR-600
SAT II Bio 750, US History 630

Last year had AP classes in Gov, Hist(4) , and Bio(3)

Senior Schedule
AP Cal AB
Environmental Sci
AP Economics
AP Literature
AP Physics B
AP Psychology
Anatomy and Physiology
My GPA is only a 3.5uw (school doesnt weight) and I'm ranked abt 50/500 (just about top 10%)
I have taken THE MOST demanding schedule including Three yrs of French and a yr of Latin

EC's

I'm a black male
-I went to Africa this summer on a medical mission
-Overcame abuse, rape, death of grandmother resulting in me moving from OH to GA in the middle of junior year
-Worked 15-20hr/week (part of that at church though, I was there nearly every day!) to supplement our family income

Awards - Nothing special

Honor Roll
Commended Nat'l Merit Scholar
Published Poet
Gold Metal on Nat'l Latin Exam
Made Homecoming Court
Some church awards

I think it looks like I do too much but I was actually very involved in everything that I did.

Recs - One from AP US History teacher, GREAT
Other from my pastor it should be great too. He said he had to chop it down from 2 pgs though. (I'm upset Rice only looks at teacher and counselor)

Essays

Common - About me overcoming abuse, rape, suicide, and my grandma's death and how it helped me to become a better person

Supplement - How being in Africa changed me and I now value others differently

Schools

RICE - ED I want this school so badly - info session, overnight visit, great interview
The woman who will read my app (I know she will) knows me by name and face (long story)
Apparently, Rice is looking for more non-athletic black males, go figure.

Emory - visited and info session
Vanderbilt - interview
UGA - safety
Morehouse - safety

Anyone????

No one has any input??

Hmmmm, you are a Black American so that increases your chances by a lot, which is great! SAT is average, and your GPA is pretty low for a University like Rice. If you do ED at Rice, I think you can get in. Just make sure your recommendations are good, and your essays are written well and represent a strong interest to get into Rice. The African mission you did doesn't sound generic at all, which is good for college admissions. I would say that you have a 50% chance, you never know. Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592997-help-help-potential-nyu-stern-applicant.html

bump bump bump, more please

OMG!!! I just found out that they already read it.

so you guys, in or not?
