Will I get into to the University of Alabama?

I have a 2.3 gpa and I received a 1730 on my SAT.
math:600
critical reading:540
writting:590
(I'm scheduled to retake the SAT in December, hopefully I will increase my reading score.)

I have played volleyball for my school and have been in DECA and Latin club.
I also have 100 hours of community service in a nursing home.

I became very sick sophomore year and almost had to drop out. Since I recovered junior year, second semester, I have had all A's and B's. I am in honors and AP classes and I have been through out high school. I'm currently a senior and im planing on applying in January. I live in Georgia and my parents have no problem paying the out of state tuition. Is there any way that I will get in? Or any advice on what could possibly increase my chances.

I would advise you to call and speak with them directly. They’ll give you the best advice. Good luck to you

I believe that you have a better chance of acceptance the earlier that you apply. Call the college and speak to an admissions rep and explain the sophomore year situation and that you will be a full paying student.
Contact info: [Contact Information - Undergraduate Admissions - The University of Alabama](http://gobama.ua.edu/contact/)

Ask admissions these questions directly and also ask if it would help your situation if you fill out a paper application with explanations.
If they say yes, then have your guidance counselor write a letter explaining the sophomore year grades and submit application asap.

Have you taken the ACT? Some students do better on that. There is one scheduled for December. This would be too late for guaranteed scholarships but maybe not for admission.
Again ask the admissions rep.

Good Luck!
Post any questions on the UA board, there are many people who are happy to help.

As someone who is at Alabama, I think you have a fairly good chance of getting in. Your SAT is on target, I think.

SAT 50% ranges from 1480-1840. Yet, only 18% of students submitted ACT scores out of everyone admitted. Definitely take the ACT, and try for a 25 or better.

Your GPA, however, might be a problem. 2.3 is very low, and I think the average is about 3.0 or something.

Definitely talk to the admissions office at Alabama, they are happy to answer your questions.

Thanks to all of you. Especially robotbldmom.

^^^you’re welcome, again do call they are very helpful.
