My college essay is about failing the basketball team for 3 years and never giving up and comming back to make the team senior year. ( How a failure in life motivated me to work even harder to achieve my goals and dreams.)

** I love SUNY Albany because of its amazing Buisness and marketing programs. I have an interest in Business and Marketing and i am excited to learn and study them in college. UAlbany had a great atmostphere with students faculty and athletics. In addition i loved the diversity of the students on campus and it really affiliates well with the term "The World is within reach." This is why UAlbany is my number 1 choice and it was simply love at first sight!! *****

Your GPA is low for SUNY Albany. Hopefully, you will have excellent SAT or ACT scores. I copied this information from the SUNY Albany website:
FRESHMAN APPLICANTS
Q: What is the required GPA for freshman admission?
A: For freshman, the average GPA of accepted freshmen for fall 2013 was 91.1. The middle 50% were between 86 and 93.

Q: What is the required SAT or ACT score for freshman admission?
A: Freshman applicants must take the SAT or ACT with writing component to be considered for admission. The middle 50% of accepted freshman for fall 2013 scored between 1090 and 1240 on the SAT (Critical Reading and Math sections only), and 24 to 28 on the ACT.

They do look at extracurricular activities and if you are good enough to be recruited in a sport that would make a big difference.

You could always go to community college if you are not accepted and transfer later.

SUNY Albany offers a lot of education for the money. Just wish the rep was better. A lot of higher GPA students apply because it’s an affordable choice their families. I am applying with a 95 gpa, 29 act, etc. I think your underestimating the quality of the applicant pool. Good luck, hope you get in.

Anyone have an idea if you apply EA when they notify you?

I know a student who got in last year with a 2.5 GPA and 28 ACT score.
