Will I get into UCLA?

I'm a transfer student from Santa Monica College with a 3.9 GPA (only 1 B), I'll have completed my IGETC, Major Prereqs., and plenty of units. I also am in the TAP (transfer alliance program) at SMC called the "scholar's program."

Unfortunately the Major I applied to, Business Econ, has a mere 17.8% acceptance rate!!!

Also, I was sent the letter to compete for the "Regent's Scholarship" which I originally thought meant that I got in, but now I think it means nothing.

What do you guys think my chances are?

Rest assured, your chances stand strong.

have you checked URSA yet?

no, I created a UCLA ID, saying I was “none of the above” (not a student or alumni), but it won’t let me access the URSA site or the MyUCLA site when I log in

you have to say you are a student

do you know of anyone that has heard already on URSA?

the last pages of the thread are recent.

I didn’t apply for FAFSA tho, is there anywhere else I can check?

i don’t think so, no. there is myucla but nobody can see anything on that yet.

You shouldn’t even be trippin dog. I got in last year with your stats but 3.6 gpa. Just as long as you had a good essay, and a few nice ECs/work experience to go along with ti.

I’d say you’re 95% in, from a rough estimate of the transfers in my econ classes.

Remember, the 82.2% who didn’t get in were the people with missing pre reqs, no TAP, or below 3.5.

amazin were you tap certified?? because i’m not, and i applied to econ.

3.6 gpa. All pre reqs. IGETC done. TAP certified. A lot of ECs/work experience. For pre bus econ.

Getting in was the easy part… getting admitted to the major once you’re here is another story haha. Hence the “PRE” bus econ

Ive heard from many instructors and scholars affiliated people at my CC, that TAP does not give you that priority if youre applying under a IMPACTED major, which is exactly what business econ is.

^ I hope that’s true for my sake.

biz econ
4.0 major GPA (all pre-reqs completed)
3.8 cum GPA
3.77 transferable GPA (IGETC completed)

NO TAP!

that’s not true—
TAP works for ALL majors in the College of Letters and Science I’m pretty sure

glenn is right except for communications. dnt worry glenn i practically guarantee that you would get in under bus econ and if not then def as your alternate

david adkins… so what would the point in doing TAP be then… besides having that second option of selecting a different major. if it doesn’t give you priority over other students in an impacted major. i’m sure it does… because you hear about students being accepted with 3.5 TAP into competitive majors. correct me if im wrong anyone.

so you’re saying that tap doesn’t work for communications? which means I’m ok if I’m not tap?

yepppppppppp

Great news! Thanks
