Will I get into UCLA?

still doesnt answer my question… but i’m sure i already know the answer. are TAP students for econ majors given priority over non-tap students?

I do believe so. Every major in the college of letters and science (including econ) accept the communications major

TAP helps A LOT. because supposedly the honors courses are more challenging (although they aren’t really).

The TAP counselor at my community said that historically/statistically, if you were: TAP certified, IGETC done, all pre reqs done (very strict on this), and 3.5+; you’re 90% in.

In my experience of talking to econ transfers who got in, this is true.

You’ll be fineee!

I had a 3.7GPA and TAP certified. Failed the 2nd quarter of calculus and I got in.

No. You are DOOMED!!!

Seriously though, you have a 3.9. You have a better shot than most, but alas, nothing in such a competitive arena is a “sure thing.”

Nothing in this world today is guaranteed unless you set lower standards with a correspondingly higher probability of success. Getting into a competitive school is highly speculative, just like a risky stock.

glennryan what are your ECs? Regents is great that pretty much means you are in. you are in the top 1% and so i doubt they would not admit you. do have any idea what regents is if you get it? i have a friend that got into ucla as a freshman and had a 4.5 and was a recipient of regents and told me about it… they dont just wave your classes fees, you get like 20,000 a year to also go to pay rent and pretty much EVERYTHING. if you look at the cost of living summary for 2009 on their site whatever their estimated cost for the year is, is what you get. i noticed you were thinking about going to USC, and i think i am pretty much the same stats as you. I have 4.0 and am a tutor. i applied to biz econ and want to minor in accounting as well, but not tap. regents is supposed to be only for 4.0, so that is amazing you got it. i am disappointed and worried since i didn’t get regents invite. i can’t believe that you would even consider USC if your invited to regents because i saw in another forum that guy talking about pre-biz econ and how crazy it is. obviously to get past all of that and graduate UCLA is as prestigious as it gets, do you really think USC’s business program is anywhere close to being as selective and honorable?

“david adkins… so what would the point in doing TAP be then… besides having that second option of selecting a different major. if it doesn’t give you priority over other students in an impacted major. i’m sure it does… because you hear about students being accepted with 3.5 TAP into competitive majors. correct me if im wrong anyone.”

People without TAP can get in with that GPA too, it happened alot under biological sciences last year. Most people in that major tend to get in with a gpa of 3.3ish with or without tap, at least that was the case last year that i learned from people in my bio class.
