THANKS FOR YOUR TIME =]
in just really nervous about college
and my dream is to go to med school afterwards

bioengineering:biotech? there are many easier paths to med school, but if BE's your real love, then i'm not one to argue.

hey thanks for the reply
im just looking to major into something that would give me stable ground if i decide to back out of going to med school

im open to suggestions on that too
THANKS

Is the 4.15 GPA your weighted UC GPA or just your weighted school GPA? UC GPAs are usually quite different than school ones. Also, your SAT scores are a little on the low side, and your ECs don't really demonstrate any concentrated interest in biotech, which might hurt you (Unless the SEEDS program thing had you do some labwork in that area). Still though, I think your chances are probably fine as long as you list Biotech as your primary major on your application. I'm not an expert though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

so i hav an update
i just got my first C...
i feel lik this is gonna stop me form getting in to sd

ohh ya
any suggestions on what i should do over the summer?
so far im taking 2 courses at a community college and am gonna study for ACTs and SAT II bio

thanks for your suggestions oneeyeddeacon !

Well since you seem to have a good standing with SCU, you might want to try getting some kind of internship with a biotech professor there. Basically, it's about emailing/calling them and begging them to let you in. You might want to try assembling a resume. Also, you could try writing a paper and submitting it to Siemens, although you'll probably be miserable your whole senior year. Have your Science teacher mentor. It might be a little late, but trying won't hurt.

i got into biotech with 4.12 gpa/ 2040 SAT

800 math2c/ 710 BioE

just another reference!

Good luck!

i know bioengineering is pretty competitive to get into, but is biotech also like an impacted major?

all the bioE tracks are impacted

scratch that, bioInf i wouldnt say is, but you have to be selected for bioE or bioTech to have a smooth transfer to it

No, BioE premed isn't impacted, and apparently you can transfer into bioinformatics from it smoothly.

whats your premises on bioE premed not impacted?? most people why apply end up pre-bioE premed and arent technically in the major, theyre -pre premed-. and im saying its easier to move around to whatever you want from bioE or bioTech because they are abet accredited and its easier to transfer out of an abet then into an abet
