UF only takes CR and M. Yay!

Taking the only 2 AP classes my school offers.

Im currentley a junior, going to senior year.
I am going to apply for the University of Florida- EARLY DECISION

What are my chances of getting into UF?
Im also going to do Early Decision and I am asian. I dont know if that will help me...and Im instate.

Your SATs are below UF's lowest 25th percentile (1220-1390), but your class rank and GPA (more important factors) will likely get you an admit. If fact, your class rank appears to be in the top 5%...which will get you an auto-admit unless that rule is changing this year.

Can you tell me about the 5% rule because Ive never heard of it. Also....is it only for UF applicants or is it for all florida public schools.

what the heck? UF accepts ppl with a minimum of 950 on math and verbal combined. it even says on their website. you can have a 440 in reading and like a 510 in math and get accepted. so ur fine, ur not below in 25th percentile average.

Yes, the mid 50% of those who were recently accepted was 1220-1390 on CR and M. 25% of accepted students scoring higher and 25% scoring lower. This is indeed on their website.

UF has become very competative instate, with so many not wanting to give up Bright Futures money to go out of state, esp Bright Futures on top of Fla Prepaid. Not too many will get in with the "minimun" requirement of 950. But Landsing, you sure have a shot at it. ED would be the best way to go if it is far and away your first choice.

Apply for the summer semester. All UF students have to take at least one sememster of course work during a summer and you might as well get it out of the way as a freshman. It will also greatly increase your chances of admission.

You have a decent shot, however a student at my school with almost the same stats was rejected this past year. He was 10th in class and had around a 1200 SAT.

The 5% rule applies to graduates of Florida public high schools....if you're in the top 5% of your graduating class, you get an auto-admit to UF and your SATs, EC's are not considered. However...even though this rule has been true in past years, it may not be true for next...so you should call the admissions office and check the policy. Report back what you find out.
