I’ve heard many different things about getting into the University of Washington.
I’ve heard its very hard and I’ve heard that its a wild card. Since they view the application holistically, I’ve heard that people with low GPAs have gotten in. I’m very confused so I need to know if I have a chance of getting in since in my dream. Here is my overview of my application:
In-state (i dont know if it matter if it’s in state or not)
Ethicity: Indian (idk if being ethnic will help)
GPA: I have a low GPA (less than 3.0 more than 2.5) However there is a special circumstance for it and I did email my admissions counselor explaining why. I have taken a total of 9 honors classes and 1 AP class throughout high school. I also have taken Health Career extra courses in the summer for 2 years in a row. Freshman is the only year I had a bad GPA. I do have an upward trend but during Junior year my GPA did dip down a little.
SAT: I have a 1210. I have only taken the SAT 2 time and I scored 1120 before. I did send UW both my SAT scores to show I improved.
Extracurriculars:
-I have had a job since 10th grade
-over 200 hours of volunteering
-I danced my whole life (performances)
-I did singing my whole life and guitar (did gigs)
- I did Crossfit since 10th grade and trained for competition
-I was a part of the yearbook - I did MUN in 9th grade
My essays are good and they represent the person I am.
I just really need to know where I stand so please feel free to give me your honest opinion. I personally feel that my GPA is the only thing that’s decreasing my chances.
