Will I get into UVa??

hey
I was wondering what my chances are of getting into UVa for fall 2008...I currently go to northern virginia community college, which has a transfer agreement with UVa (albiet agreement offers guaranteed admission after 2 years). I am in my second semester. It might also be important to note that I am a resident of Washington, D.C. here are my stats:

College GPA: 3.66
college credits: 9 (I have 11 AP credits however)
current courseload: 17 credits (no bs classes either)
hs gpa: 2.84 uw, took 5 ap's so not exactly sure about the weighted, prolly a 3.1 w

Ec: All district selection for varsity soccer in high school, varsity soccer captain, Chairperson at CC Honors club, member of the Loudoun business club, completed a selective leadership program in high school, member of FBLA in high school, been working since age of 14 and worked two part time jobs during first semester

SATs: 2050 total, 600M,740W,710CR
3 letters of recommendation, one from my prof who heads the business department at my CC, one from a UVa alumni (history teacher in my hs) and one from my high school English teacher

and I wrote a b1tchin essay

what are my chances? please let me know so I can put myself at ease...

so are you IS or OOS?

out of state :/

I wouldn't hold my breath. As I'm sure you know, OOS admission is extremely competitive. The overall transfer admit rate is somewhere between 35 and 40 percent, but that can be misleading as it includes in-staters, who by mandate account for 2/3 of the class. That pool in itself is also pretty competitive, as a portion is made up of guaranteed VCCS transfers. Prefferance is given to 3rd years as well. So you've got a few things working against you.

Certainly good luck, but if you don't get in I would work on fulfilling all the pre-reqs and apply again next year. BTW, do you know if the guaranteed transfer applies to OOS students? If so, there's your ticket.

Chessiestyle: What would be a rough range as to what an OOS junior would need to get into the CAS?
Would it be like 3.5-3.7 to be competitive or closer to 3.7-3.9?

I'd say OOS needs at least a 3.7.

Sounds good.

Well, historically 3.7 has been the average for OOS--so 3.66 gives you a pretty good chance. But as noted by chessiestyle, the applications have been going up--and the Virginia legislature has also been pushing the university to admit more in-state transfers--and the university has agreed to do so starting this year--which limits the number of spots even more for OOS students.

Good luck.

I would def. want to be in the 3.7+ range. Also important are the # of prereqs completed, among many other factors.
