I am a High School Sophmore who is very interested in going to West Point. To get into West Point I realize you have to be a well rounded leader which is what I have tried to do for my two years at high school/ For grades i recieve mostly A's and B's and get the occiasional C. How ever, i know m grades aren't spectacular which is why I do communitee service and extra curriculars. I'm on the golf team, baseball team, and am also wrestling next year. Im Vice-President of my class, in rotary interact club, best buddies, bread and roses, medical careers club, im also thinking of joining a few more clubs my junior year. I am also involved with communitee serive outside of school, like coaching a basketball team and stuff with my church. I plan on getting into national honors society next year which you have to have an 88 cumulative average to get in. As a junior im going to apply to the West Point Leadership camp and start to get recomendations from senators and congressman.

No one can really tell you if you can get into West Point when you don’t even have your junior grades yet. All anyone can really say is to raise your grades do well on SATs, etc.

And please don’t join clubs just for ECs. If you’re truly interested, fine. But you’re probably better off staying in clubs you’re already a part of and trying to get officer positions and doing helpful things for the clubs.

Good luck.

Thats actually what i planned on doing. Im just stressing out because im bombing all my finals, but i heard westpoint is a big leadership school which is what i truely am!

One of the best ways to get into a Military Academy here in the states is to try and meet with a senator or some kind of governmental figure wherever you live (the higher up the better) and get them to write something on your behalf. I know for sure that it goes a long way; my cousin as well as a student from my high school essentially built a relationship with a senator, and that senator lobbied to get them into the school. Of course, they had to have the qualifications as well, which you seem to have as well, but from my experience it really helped. The former went to Annapolis, and the latter is currently at West Point.

I am definitly going to apply for a bunch of nominations from congress men in MA. Just wondering do ALL people who apply have to have nominations. How does the process of admissions go?

I think, yeah, you do need a nomination as part of the application.

Any other tips that westpoint looks at?

Athletics, drive, and leadership I’d assume.
Good luck man!

Im on my highschool baseball team as well as numerous other leagues, ill most likely be captain of my golf team, and im gunna wrestle next year too. Is that good for sports???
