Will I get kicked out?

@slowpoke, I suppose I got too much time on my hands (now that school no longer matters for me).

@oikology, I guess I need to be more succinct in my posts.

or less derisive…

ha i guess i’m pretty much everywhere too now though

slowpoke91, i feel that one experiences a great deal of mood swings when on CC

At the same time, dude, as much as you’re clearly an intelligent guy and a future Columbian… I might more selectively put a sock in it, when it comes to questions that a current student or alum would be in a better position to answer.

The important thing to remember is that in most cases where there isn’t something egregious (indicted for a felony, failing to graduate, etc), you don’t get rescinded automatically, the adcom sends you something that basically says “account for yourself, fool”. And you send them a letter explaining your situation. I’ve had to advise a few students in that predicament in the last few years here. Essentially, if you’ve slacked off because you’ve been putting your energies into other more worthwhile things that you had neglected in favor of academics (or can make an argument to that effect), they may let marginal cases slide. Get caught cheating on your final exams, maybe not, but a C+ here or there probably won’t be fatal even if it raises some eyebrows.

You have 4 months until columbia owns your soul for 4 years. Make the most of them.

edit: double post. curse thee, CC

Current students or alums aren’t in a better position to answer this question, since chances are none of them have ever known anyone who’s gotten their admissions rescinded. The best people to ask this question are the OP’s guidance counselor and/or the admissions committee…neither of whom are on CC.

…you think.

Anyway, I’ve advised 2 kids who had gotten a “what the heck are you up to?” letter, which I imagine was a preliminary step to a rescinded offer. Both cases involved multiple grades below a B, but no disciplinary issues. They both were eventually allowed in without incident.

Then again, this is a terrible question to ask in the first place.

“How much can I slack off before I get roasted?”

I dunno, it doesn’t seem like it’s a question phrased prospectively. It seems like the OP is in a particular situation, knows his/her grades, and wants to know what to expect.

that’s some good wisdom for a '13er, Denzera. Thank you

Multiple “sub B” grades as in 2 or as in like, 3-4+?
